Pez is a registered 7 year old bred to Osceola, our registered Jersey bull, for a late May calf. She is very friendly and loves babies. She has medium teat length and has been great for machine or hand milking. I believe she would make an excellent beginner cow. She does milk a bit lighter in her front right quarter, but all 4 were working just fine when she went dry.

Pretzel is a sweet, easy-going young Jersey cow. She is comfortable with me walking up to her, but doesn’t always want to be touched when loose in the field. She has been really easy-going in the milk barn and doesn’t mind being milked by hand or machine. She does have medium short teat size, but still pretty comfortable for me to milk her by hand. She is registered, but still working on getting her papers.

She is not a big producer, and has smaller teats, but she is quite layed back and stands still for milking by hand or machine. She calved this winter and has been exposed to Osceola, our registered Jersey bull, and possibly early bred.

She has an excellent temperament and I believe she would be an excellent beginner cow.

She is gentle enough I believe she would make a great beginner cow.

She is great for milking with a machine and most days she stands well for hand milking as well. She is as friendly as a puppy, and loves attention. She will come up to me looking for me to pet on her and if ignored she may come and rub on me. I believe a beginner would be fine with her although if you are planning to hand milk she may tip the bucket if you don’t watch her.

Poppie is such a pet. She is a registered 3 year old. She calved in March and is milking great. She loves attention and she is shedding right now and it is quite patchy, so she is not pretty right now, but she will be beautiful in a month or two once her winter coat is gone and her spring coat comes in. She does have a small scar on one eye, it doesn’t seem to bother her. And she does have an extra teat on the right side. It is not a functional teat just there for looks. I think she would make an excellent beginner cow.

She has great teat size for hand milking and has recently been bred by Osceola, our registered bull, but we have not received test confirmation yet. She is a big pet and loves attention. She is great around adults or small children. For people who are looking for a beginner cow usually it is best to get a cow that is over 4 years old. The younger cows can be sweet, but they also get spooked or nervous easier. This girl would be a solid pick for someone with no cow experience.

She is trained to the cow cant kick bar though, and when it is on she behaves well for hand milking.
